The City and its partners have completed and planned many restoration actions and culvert removals in the Johnson Creek watershed that increase habitat potential for anadromous fish and their associated native biological community. However, there is additional opportunity for restoration actions that can further bolster habitat for these species.
While current and planned restoration actions in Tryon Creek will greatly enhance the habitat potential for coho, Chinook, and steelhead, future restoration actions could improve habitat in the watershed even more and help to buffer against climate change and urbanization. In order for any of the current or planned restoration actions or restoration opportunities to be very beneficial, passage problems (especially at the Highway 43 culvert and also at the Boones Ferry culvert) must be addressed in Tryon Creek.
